The pair finished inside the top eight and at some point was in the running for the 2024-2025 FNB Premiership title.
Ahead of the 2025-2026 season, both teams are leaving no stone unturned with transfer activities that suggest they are gunning for the championship. Magosi have over a decade without tasting the league championship and have entrusted former captain, Pontsho Moloi, with the return to glory days.
The team is busy in the market but are keeping their business close to their chest. Chiefs, as per media reports, have a long list of targets and if all are signed they would make the team formidable ahead of the next season. The Kgatleng giants, however, lost one of their targets in midfielder Marcel Papama. The Namibian has prolonged his stay at Rollers for a further two years ending Chiefs’ chase. Magosi are reportedly eyeing the signature of Rollers defender Mosha Gaoloalwe. The defender is also said to be on the list of FA Cup champions, Jwaneng Galaxy but Popa are keen to keep their star player. Magosi have already poached goalkeeper, Kabelo Maphakela from Rollers.
Chiefs’ long wishlist reportedly includes, Chicco Molefe, the left-back who spent half a season on loan at the team from Galaxy. He, however, sat out the majority of the second round due to an injury. Orapa United’s pair of Thato Kebue and Gape Thibedi are also on sight alongside Theo Shadikong and Kemonnetswe Mmangwedi who had a brilliant season with TAFIC. Rebaone Joseph and Shanganani Ngada, alongside young full back, Boyce Selebogo are also in talks with Chiefs. Magosi are said to be concluding the signing of attacker, Tshepo Malgas and are also looking at the goal-scoring prowess of Serati Semadi from Sua.
Semadi is said to be leaning towards a stay at the saltpans after a brilliant first season into his three-year contract at Sua. He is amongst the club’s prized assets as Nikola Kavazovic looks to build a competitive team. Kavazovic has linked with former players, Segolame Boy from Rollers and Boyo Lechaena from Matebele in what appears like strategic signings. League champions, Gaborone United (GU) are relatively quiet in the market. The team is said to be looking at the services of centre-half, Ngada and midfielder of the season contender, Manda Nongo.
Full-back Joseph is also being linked with the club. BDF XI are parting ways with 11 players including Onkemetse Powe as they prepare for life under new coach, Mogomotsi Mpote. Rollers have concluded the signing of Keorapetse Ramakgathi from Matebele FC as Ofentse Nato and Kgotso Phuti are expected to leave Extension Gunners. Kitso Mangolo is the first export this season after signing with Marumo Gallants as Thero Setsile, Mothusi Johnson, and Thatayaone Kgamanyane are also linked with moves to South Africa.
